A mental health docuseries

Thoughts we rarely say out loud.

Different people talking about life’s struggles, hope and experiences. One take, 1 to 3 minutes, in their own words.

What is Niliwaze

Most of it goes unsaid.

Niliwaze is a mental health docuseries by AYYA, Inc. Each episode, a different person speaks to camera about life as they have lived it: the struggles, the hope, the experiences they rarely share, and more.

They are short because a thought is short. They are vertical because that is where people already are. And they are told in the person’s own words, with no narrator telling you what to feel.

If you have ever wondered “is it just me?”, this series is for you.

How it works

One person. One take. One true thing.

  1. Different peopleNot actors. A new voice each episode, speaking about their own life.
  2. 1 to 3 minutesLong enough to be true, short enough to finish.
  3. Their own wordsSubtitles carry what they say. Nothing is added to tell you how to feel.

Why it matters

Saying it first is the hard part.

A lot of what people carry stays unspoken because nobody else seems to be saying it. When one person does, it gets a little easier for the next. That is all Niliwaze tries to do.

  • You don’t need the right words.
  • You don’t have to fix it today.
  • You are not the only one.
